Derelict buildings
by a placid lake
Waiting
A boulder hangs
at the top of a chasm
Gravity rules
Bedrock
breaks the waves
then yields
The wind is soft,
the waves are smooth . . .
Sculptors of bedrock
Mossy stairs
through bedrock walls . . .
Passageway
Wild waves
try to climb the shore
but can't
Trees cling
to bald bedrock
Somehow

Grass grows
on ancient wheel tracks
to paradise
The lake beyond
yellow-dyed tree tops . . .
Everlasting

Brown leaves
in a forest graveyard
Remember
Moonrise
through foggy sleet
is cold comfort
